About the role
The Patient Safety Specialist facilitates cause analysis of actual or near miss events throughout the organization, provides leadership, education and mentoring to clinical stakeholders, and facilitates multidisciplinary teams to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements in processes and systems related to patient safety.
Department: Quality Patient Safety. Shift: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8a to 5p. Job type: Onsite.
What you'll do
- Coordinate and facilitate the investigation, review and disposition of patient safety events
- Serve as an expert in safety science and patient safety processes and outcomes
- Aggregate and analyze data to identify trends in near miss and actual events and present recommendations to committees
- Take operational responsibility for external survey completion related to Quality and Patient Safety
- Collaborate with Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance on event review processes and documentation
- Design and develop patient safety reports using Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and EPIC
What you bring
- At least 7 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical environment required
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Current Texas RN or Respiratory Care Practitioner license upon hire
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within 1.5 years
- CPHQ preferred
